Emotional Fitness trains you to turn difficulties, adversities and what stresses you out into what strengthens you and builds you up. Emotional Fitness is essentially waging compassionate war on the weaknesses that, because of an inablity to deal with stress, become self- destructive, self sabotagng habits. When people find out I lived in China & Japan, We see a lot of people, first allowing themselves to be stressed then reacting to stress by distracting themselves with alcohol, drugs, smoking, over eating, retail therapy, gambling—even misused sex. The problem with these self-distractions is that they are the self-sabotaging self-destructive, symptoms. They set their roots in our inability to confess, accept and address our past traumas and tragedies. Because of these past problems, present stressors are exaggerated and become triggers that cause us to feel overwhelmed. We then react in ways we wish we wouldn't, we wish we could stop to, at times benign, present situations in self-defeating, self-sabotaging and self-destructive ways.
What makes me an Emotional Fitness Expert? We have a myriad of emotional or environmental triggers to face daily. As an Emotionally fit person, we learn to manage our emotions by practicing to positively respond rather than negatively reacting to any and all situations. You manage your emotions and in doing so, learn to master the lessons life is trying to teach you. You then learn to use stress to strengthen you and turn adversity into your ally. You turn obstacles into opportunities by saying, “I get to,” instead of “I have to”—big difference! You literally learn, as I had to, to "love your enemy" -because as I realized my Enemy is really my Inner Me who I realized, "I really didn't like much less love". This makes you much better, during difficult and challenging situations at really seeing and hearing yourself and others, your spouse, your family and friends, your clients, customers. Without the depressive drain on your psyche you are more resilient, energized, focused and effective and can help others to be as well. When you're Emotionally Fit you either prevent or dissipate stress and stressors- by quickly confessing, assessing & addressing the actual issue beneath it with reserve and resolve. (Which allows us to forgive ourselves and see others in a new way.) Building this inner strength—this spirit—helps keep self-destructive thoughts, feelings and behaviors at bay and instead allows you to move more rapidly towards self-fulfillment through expansion, growth and love (and a little laughter while you're are at it!).
